"Come as you are!" she said.

"Come as you are!" she said.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

"Come as you are!" she said.
When I opened her letter,
the invite read.
" Come as you are!"
I knew then
I was in trouble.
But....
it was my birthday after all.
On arriving,
I was so "Au Naturale."
She opened the door
fell over, fainted.
Even, in my birthday suit wearing shoes
I felt overdressed.
Maybe, I should have had a haircut too.
Anyway..
             with a towel
now wrapped around me
leaning over her cushioned head,
she came too, eventually.
Until she saw my dangly bits.
Why do people peep?
I was so excited too!
It was my birthday.
