Sleeping in grey.

Sleeping in grey.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Sleeping in grey.
Winter clouds descend
over her rainbow, bright.
Blue skies now grey, bleak
wrap around thoughts, tender.
She surrenders
to middle earth
in slumber
hibernating
gathering her thoughts.

I cant stand grey! Even Mr. Grey in the movie '50 Shades...' was such a bummer! :P

You make it sound like a gift for 'thought gathering'. :)

Thank you Ty I have to admit I like winter greys and storms and having a fire on. I heard that movie.. read more
'middle earth' adds another shade[perhaps even Tolkiensque?] to the grey - 'hibernating, gathering her thoughts' - alongside the blue and the rainbow, a process in nature and in creativity.

Thank you for your words Solar. and your visit! I shall return the love I'm so behind!
Hibernation I understand, coming from a country that permanently feels like someone left the freezer door open in. Unfortunately, we have unusual weather all year round, so sometimes the hibernation turns into estivation when we wake in spring and see there is no need in waking, we slumber into summer, hoping for better days ahead.
Nicely done Andrew.

I like it :) The words create a really nice and vivid atmosphere and imagery. I think, I'm really into short poems at the moment, they so often reflect so much more and leave one space to imagine.
