The road of remembrance.

The road of remembrance.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

The road of remembrance.
The country road
travelled, rugged, dusty
visible in heat haze,
clogging the nostrils.
No longer used
in courting rituals
far as the memories
reach outback, my mind.
The road disappears from view,
shadows mark lonely trails
following a love forsaken,
fading....... with time.

"country roads take me home to the place i belong" and for some of us...home is loneliness...

such a sad tinge to this piece, but lovely in its presentation.

Thank you for your words Jacob
That road of life holds many a memory all too vividly remembered, with neon signs of regret placed strategically along its path. I have since tried to retrace my steps on that path, but have difficulty finding it on the map anymore. Maybe it was all just our imagination or dream.
Nicely captured.
