Reading matter.

Reading matter.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Reading matter.
As drones of wasps
crossed over
a book of literature
placed on a picnic table
on their flight path.
Stopping, browsing,
William Shakespeare
the paper wasp
carefully removed
the good bits
with meticulous,
mechanical precision.
For him it didn't matter
if the book was valuable,
he had run out of reading matter.

Wow now this is really superb use of metaphor. Two interpretations: Nothing good left to read so let's read anything. The matter read matters most?
the other thing is it leaves you thinking how true it is, if all the classics end up being forgotten as time passes by replaced by something completely different. Changes take place in every field. No exception here. But life continues to move on irrespective of the change ^^

yes, sometimes it happens...we run out of the good stuff and will read anything...no more Times? time for the Enquirer...

what does matter is matter.
