The placement.

The placement.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Was the placement
of the hat on the hook
the final curtain,
the hanging up
of one's boots,
the nod of resignation
to put down the pen,
and just wonder,
leaving the pages empty,
I wonder.

a poet who knows he has little life left...puts the pen down on his own terms.

i suppose you are right j
First reaction- No, never put down the pen! Second, rest your weary head a bit from the subtle depletion. Then, come back for the standing ovation! Great imagery and detail in this poem. Touching, poignant. Beautiful.
