In a prism full of colours.

In a prism full of colours.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

In a prism full of colours
travelling down my mind
the waterfall of tears
caresses what is mine
between the mountains and valleys
all resonating in song
I hear the birds singing
against the temple gongs
I climb your every peak
to have you on my own
standing on the ground
you never make a sound
I adore you from a far
some shining distant star
in the pourings of my mind
you're fading with the times....

in a prism full of colours

travelling down my mind.

Oh how beautiful- sad that it’s fading with time- sometimes we can just stand and be caught up in all the love and beauty and the emotions overflow and the tears find their place to go- of the love you express here needs to find home in the heart it so desires- just wonderful🌹

thank you tamara for reading
Andrew,
Beginning with your title, in a cascade of thoughts, feelings, emotions, and creative metaphor, I found my senses flowing along in an almost staccato-like rhythm of musical captivity, that word after word, line after line, created a scene that swept me along through a myriad of poetical visuals … quite an original and highly enjoyed sensation.
I’ve actually read this piece several times; it’s one of those I always wanted to comment on, and should have at first read, it left that much of an impression on me.
Especially, the rhymes, slant rhymes, and rhythmic beat of your syntax is like a dance without pause, until the penultimate and final lines, which adds just the right amount of intimacy to imprint and endure.

Excellent, Andrew … a fine work of poetic voice.
Thank you for the rare, original poetic experience! ⁓ Richard

You earned it! : )
There is a gentle wistfulness in this poem, Andrew, that conjures up so many images and sensations. It brought a single word to my mind "synaesthesia" .
As one who sees colour in musical sounds, it resonated with my perceptions of how we react to unseen stimuli around us. Your "prism of colours" reflects a wide spectrum of life.

thank you Norman for an insightful review:):) I shall look that word up too, synaesthesia .
There is a beauty to memories and travelling the mind...the mind is a powerful tool for such travelling but it seldom comes without an unexpected boot, lovely Andrew...
