The impetuous thief.

The impetuous thief.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

You, the impetuous thief
that has ravaged the ages.
 Yes you Time!

Inexplicably drawn to you
I find myself on razor's edge
walking a thin line.

Although time means money
I neither had the time
or the money accrued.
Does it matter?

While in my youth
you appeared to be free
and in abundance
I now find
my unspent time
will cost me
in the end.

time and money - never enough of each, often having one with a shortage of the other. you always make one stop and think. in my youth, with seemingly little, i couldn't wait for time to go by because anything seemed attainable in the future. now as i get older i realize how short life really is. thoreau wrote of "living deep and sucking out all the marrow of life" and putting to rout all that was not life". i don't think anything is a waste of time if it is done in happiness. i smiled as i read but this is actually quite heavy.
