The hold a hold has!

The hold a hold has!

A Poem by andrew mitchell

I could no more
hold today
let alone tomorrow,
I was still clinging on
to yesterday in the hope
yesterday was tomorrow.

It's a nicely weird little thought-not.
Is a lone separated intentionally as a play on alone?
I am wondering if yesterday need be repeated, or just in the hope it was tomorrow ...
either way it's a smart little piece.
