Wearing the coat of uncertainty.

Wearing the coat of uncertainty.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

While the magician pulls insanity
out from within his hat,
the love rustler frisks
the golds of autumn falling,
the desperado quenches his thirst
sucking on spinifex dried
while the bastardry of royalty
rules on jewels displayed
lecturing on poverty.

Anarchy rules on the glass
as chaos is drunk
on copious amounts of guilt,
rainbows fading, trees falling,
the giants are no more
in the rise of black over white.

In a deck of cards
the king of spades
digs for gold while
the queen of hearts is broken.

The joker shares another reality
wanting to disappear
as everyone stares
at the joke of illusion
blanketing their disillusionment.

Where the cruel sea spews
drowning all beliefs,
in the fire's den
the black ash smothers
all historical thoughts that linger
no longer warm.

Feeling cold, the rabbit is placed
back into the hat,
the tricks of the trade lie dead,
the repetitive drums fade to bass
disappearing over the horizon,
the show is finally over.
