A gothic face in a film.

A gothic face in a film.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Seeing your photograph
on the mantle piece
you wore your eyes of intrigue well
as we drifted apart,
we drifted together,
a face in a film,
shimmering on reflection
blurred thoughts,
lover’s glare
how the frame
kept you together
until a shadow of you
moved in the room
seeing a heart on the floor
removed but still pumping
someone stoked the fire.

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! This is one of my very favorites of yours! I love the idea of seeing "all that" in a photo . . . a favorite song I used to sing had a similar way of reading a world into a photo. The details you use are full of longing & contrasts which I love. You've struck the perfect melancholy tone (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
