The ghosts of war were not heaven sent!

The ghosts of war were not heaven sent!

A Poem by andrew mitchell

I went to war
and never came back,
well not in the real
sense of the word,
however I was given
a concrete slab
in remembrance of me.
I see the politician
who sent me is doing well.
His family has grown
having families of their own
and he’s living a luxurious retirement.
Looking at my headstone
covered in green
I do hope someone
cleans the moss off.

I saw the WW2 graveyards. Lonely place for men who die for freedom. Your words honest and true Andrew. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.
