Right under our noses!

Right under our noses!

A Poem by andrew mitchell

The evil sect called Insectology
was growing in numbers.
The cult leader General MacLocust
yelled at the masses.

" We shall rid the humans of their food sources!"

" We will eat all their greens!"

The  crickets chirped with delight.
The grasshoppers jumped.

" We will survive the nuclear holocaust!"

The cockroaches screamed.

" Hoorah! Hoorah!"

"We will rule the world!"

The crowd roared.

Meanwhile, in a little lane
two teenage flies
landed on a spiders web.

"Scram, get out of here, or I will eat you!"
Said the spider.

But unbeknown to all,
the group that called themselves
the Cans of Insecticides
was on the prowl,
and sprayed the raucous crowd,
until they were no more.

The final footprint squashed the rebellion.

The End.

I don't know if it was your intention, but there seems to be much more in the underneath of this one. A sorry thing we are, bug squashing people.

Thank you Jacob for the compliment!
Great write - makes me think there is a group of aliens watching us pumping toxic gases into our atmosphere and saying: " Hey look - no need to invade - they are getting rid of themselves" bleep bleep bleep!

Your piece certainly inspired my imagination - ... :-)

Thank you Phill
i just love the levity my friend ... life eats all my greens it seems ;{ waaaaaaaaaaaaay back when I was a wanderer (60's) I ran across a man ...maybe in his thirties in San Francisco one evening, on the streets ... he was dressed in a quasi-crumpled greyish suite and preaching to all that the minuscules were taking over the world ... at the time I did not know what a minuscule was .. I asked my sidekick and he didn't know either ... but the guy gave us $5 and skipped on down the road .. passionately peddling his message ... perhaps the final footprint knocked him out too! I sure appreciate your poem andrew!

Many thanks Gene for your kind words.:)
Wow, I love this wacky, imaginative write. You've been using the insecticide by the sounds of it, and quite liberally too, to squash that rebellion. And that final footprint just to make sure had me smiling. Great fun and one I will remember Andrew.
