When I was young.

When I was young.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

When I was young
I played the hero
that saved the world.
I played the villain
with a smile
and grinned,
there were no rules.

I played the soldier
who never died
I played the soldier
who did, reenacted
a hundred times
on how to fall dead.

I was Batman, Superman,
the invisible man,
I played the genie,
three wishes and all.
But I never played God.
He just didn’t seem real.

This is absolutely lovely writing Andrew, seems like a perfect picture of innocence, but you show the depth and beauty in the understanding of children.

yes, this is so true...we pretended to be everybody..but not him...
too immense to even think about....and as kids, we didn't understand...
i really like where you took this one.
