The heist of time that gathered random thoughts.

The heist of time that gathered random thoughts.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Domination spills over tepid thoughts
the tread of commonsense
leave marks on the ground
where time has been.

In a circus of madness
clowns in drag smiling...
are laughing in an upside down world.
Their dead are mourning, clapping hands
to a ghost performing.

The Scarecrow runs
in a cornfield hiding,
the black shadows
of a twisted mind rising
on a seance board
that's just begun.

In an upside down world
where the living are dead
and the dead are living,
autumn leaves run away screaming.

Evergreens fall with the ship sinking
where understanding has no meaning,
ghouls play the strings
of those now hanging.

Psychedelic  colours are rainbows dripping
the  circus of thoughts no longer thinking
the carousel  mind stops not working.

The desert song of past
continues singing,
the wind blows the images,
all chords now crying.

In an upside down world
where the living are dying,
the dying are living
their sands of time
have turned to glass.

I see this is from your archives Andrew, and 4 years on i think the world is evem more topsy turvy with many more clowns in the political circus ring.
"autumn leaves run away screaming." that is an amazing line with terrific imagery .
Sometimes i think "Stop the world , i want to go backwards to where sanity prevailed "

Belated Thank you Stella
This has to be the most profound piece I have ever read of yours. It is steeped in bitterness and anger and is set in a flowing poignant freeverse with teeth.
