The autumn years.

The autumn years.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Catch me I’m falling -
the autumn years
the last roll of the dice,
the final decade of life
where time can call
at any given moment to say:
It’s time to go!

And in a golden handshake
you are released from
the clutches of the family tree -
the land of your living
as you know it.

Your period of life ownership
will soon be over,
just look around,
it’s coming,
there’s no looking back -
the autumn years are here.

i think as Steely Dan sang.."i'm reeling in the years"

this is so good, andrew...and so true in its theme.
