I seek to jump
in humour’s pool
catch me a joke
one or two.
I seek a line
to deliver the punch
it’s all about timing
the audience, the crunch.
Laughter the reward
a smile or two
I look around
applause from few.
To deliver the lines
all on cue
based on timing
before the final curtain
is due.
