What was the first word
created on Earth?
Was the word spoken
when the caveman shouted. “F#-k!”
What’s the matter?
I dropped a rock on my toe,
Highly unlikely, for they hadn’t
discovered the word yet.
Was the first word Mama
spoken by a homo sapien child?
Or were the words pumped out
“ Me, Tarzan.” “ You Jane!”
Probably not! That’s tele-vision!
We may never know.
For the first word was
obviously told in secret?
All hush hush in fear of
word predators!
But by lucky chance
word rage was collected,
recorded, and written
in an album called a book,
The Oxford Dictionary.
Now, in the present
in a civilisation of languages
word rage has really taken off!
“ Hey you!” Yes you!
Get out of the way or
I’m going to break
your nose and knock your
block off!
Yes, on the highway of words travelled,
we have come along way
In a world of word rage.
As usual in your humorous terms you come up with a serious question you make me think about....
I would like to think the "oh s**t!" expression is the oldest but that is not really a word so i looked it up and what I found was kind of what you said I went with the cognates approach words that cross multiple languages here is the list of words with the highest frequency..... thou,I,not,that,we,this,what,man/male,ye,old,mother,to hear, hand, fire,to pull, black,to flow, bark, ashes,to spit,worm....yes worm? ironically you used three of them in your poem:) I wouldn't say i have word rage but i definitely have word love. Enjoyed your write as usual

And to think the f word has so many meanings from surprise, to anger, to pain etc and somewhere someone let out this expletive and it’s gone viral without computers or Facebook. I think words are all the rage if you love words. Thanks again friend.
I liked your logic my friend. I believe you are right. Pain create language. I enjoyed these words written. Thank you Andrew for sharing for the amazing poetry.
