The circus on mind’s promenade.

The circus on mind’s promenade.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

The see saw of thoughts,
up and down
on mind’s carousel
had all ideas turning
in the circus
of the cranial’s roller coaster
jumping off for the answers
but enjoying the ride.

Andrew, I must admit I identified with every line, except the last. But, what a surprisingly refreshing end. I often use this metaphor to describe the unpleasantness of that ride. Your poem reminds me that it’s been enjoyable, too. Thank you!

Thank you very much Robert.
dear Andrew... I adore your poem... as Roger and I are at an age
where our mind, indeed, is a carousel of ideas turning in the circus...
and so forth. It takes me back when Roger and I met in Washington, D.C.
where we "met by chance" when there was a gathering at Bronco Billy's
close to where we both worked in law firms. My boss had his birthday
party after work. There was a Band and a dance floor. Roger and I
became "soul mates" and would attend impromptu events like a Circus...
we discovered on the way home on a Friday night on the outskirts of
Washington, D.C. There were Baby Elephants with Ballerina's in pink tutu's
atop... parading around. There was a trainer with a Tiger in a secure Cage.
The music was wonderful. Thus, began a marriage of the meeting of the minds.
There is never a dull moment. The "Ride" is full of questions, especially politics.
Answers are slow in coming, but eventually we will pass the "Reins" to the
younger Generation. Your poem is like a Novel in my mind. truly, Pat
