A Poem by andrew mitchell

Fireside thoughts
warmed by recollection
of what was
now lie in coals
burning to ashes.
I stoke the fire
to stir, to rekindle
the memories to relive
what was once,
but now no more.
Within the manor of mind
haunted travellers meander
through a decaying period,
an outing within a historic mind.

This is written extremely well. I love how metaphoric it is, but yet it is still so clear with telling the story. This poem is painful to read yet very enjoyable due to the way you play with words.
