The magician's hat- a black hole vocabulary.

The magician's hat- a black hole vocabulary.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

What words flow
from the mystic pen
along the the corridors
of mind's mystery road
of conjured magic performed,
no rabbit is pulled from a hat
but a stop placed
upon reflection?

On dragon's breath
words of fire
stormed the world
of surrealism in disbelief
looking for truth
in a dream from
the real world passed
where the unconsciousness
from a nightmare lived,
dawned on awakening.

The knowledge was served.

That "black hole vocabulary" could be interpreted in more than one way. Our vocabulary, especially how we use it, seems bottomless, and it also can bring darkness (black magic) to the world. Like the magician, he can amuse, make us laugh... or horrify us. The poet does the same, painting the sun and moon in words. So much depth here, Andrew, in this relatively brief work. My thoughts are still evolving on this good work.

This idea of a word
living a life of its own
whether it is lit or grows dim
it sits there in secrecy but is heard
through a pen
lovely

the poet as magician...now you see the words, now you don't...
"why don't we do it in the road, no one will be watching us" and we may think, no one will be reading us...as well.
love this.
