The house of silence.

The house of silence.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Filled with love
surrounded by
a garden of colour
the house of silence
was deliriously happy.

But during the war
the place was bombed
the house cried empty
the ruins speak
of times past
having no tomorrow
while children's ghosts
look on playing
amongst the rubble.

War...still creates pain, even for the dead....and children whether alive or dead suffer most...

Indeed J thank you for commenting.
A poignant piece Andrew. Your poem tells me how quickly things can change. I find myself wondering about the happy family that lived in that house before the bombs dropped. Then I question whether the children were evacuated or died there. So much to think about in this short poem. A lovely, though sad little write.

Thanks Chris, yes Britain during the war always comes to mind.
