On a grey stone written in lichen.

On a grey stone written in lichen.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

We owe our lives
to those who
have fallen
before us
standing erect
in tombstone grounds.

Well, it's hard to write a review when the poem makes me silent. It's the silent reverence of recognizing truth and agreeing with it. Well penned.

Thank you Linda for your words.
yes we do....and someday we may stand erect in tombstone grounds...and others may feel the same about us....at least we hope we make that much difference to some.

You never know Jacob.
yes we do ... i couldn't agree more .. all those who have gone before .. known and unknown to us have carved the earth we walk and rippled the ponds we swim in ... really like the title .. i live near a small family Civil War time cemetery ..has maybe 20 stones with almost half without markings other than lichen ... small stones that are most likely children who died at or close to their births :( its a sacred place our burial places ... solemn and divine says i

Seems so unlike America to have a civil war. Yes so much history is buried there! Thanks Gene.
