A mind in a bottle but an empty vessel.

A mind in a bottle but an empty vessel.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

I am no more
but empty
as empty
as empty can be -
a space of nothing
waiting to be consumed
by nothing more than
what matters to me.
And in this vessel of nothingness
you will find alone just me -
a mind in a bottle
cast out to sea
no message to read
no message to see....
the ink has dried.
But all that really matters
in this space
quintessentially belongs to me.

It has been said 'no man is an island', but I don't believe that adage. We are all islands … each of us self-contained and dealing with things on an individual basis.
This piece comes across as a little bit of nothing … as some would see it … but there is far more here than that. It speaks of doubt … of loss … even hopelessness.
There is definitely angst in this one … perhaps considering that there is no more to write … or the inspiration seems to be gone … or I have said all I want to say.
I understand that empty feeling … it strikes now and then …

But, I'll tell you Andrew … if I had to pick a poem I wish I had written … this would be at the top of the list.

A good write … a very good write!

:) ....................
i don't imagine your ink will every dry, andrew....you are constant source of poetic philosophy...
so Jim Croce sang "If i could save time in a bottle"
but maybe if could "save my mind in a bottle" there might be a sip left at the end.
