Another paradise upside down.

Another paradise upside down.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Metric thoughts
stumble over
an imperial mind
where measurements
become lost in
translation.
The fox is no more but
a rabbit feeding, hunted.
In the eyes of the spider
eight in all
look on
from the progression
of steam to
the electric dream -
still just a train in motion.
In the passing of the night
dreams travel far
eclipsing the Earth
as we mistake today
for tomorrow -
the eagle above
soars as my witness -
clouds still go bump
into the night.
The tread of life
marks the road
hopping in the car
doing one hundred clicks
down a deserted highway
to no where -
the mileage travelled
seems more like
a mind game
where kilometres
don't really matter.
Another day in
paradise upside down -
the curse of overtime
earns an extra quarter,
and while time brings
just shapes changing -
who's checking
the hands of time
or the oil on
life's dipstick.

the metaphors are quite good here, andrew.
ah..."who's checking/ the hands of time/ or the oil on/ life's dipstick"

amazing lines...amazing analogy....
yes who is?
the deterioration is like someone with a beautiful, fast car just letting it go to hell...
and Adam and Eve would go running from this Garden...in a heartbeat.
