I don't often go into the depth of "religion" -- however I believe that I am more spiritual than religious. Even though at times I do end up having to go to Sunday mass simply for the sake of wanting to be in the house of my "heavenly father" then otherdays most of it, I know I speak to him all the time amidst the fact that I also practice spirituality, mother earth, buddhism & hinduism in most of my days where I chant mantras and meditate. I think for this, I always wonder, without either or, I cannot be me. I am sorry for my non-sense but, I completely vote for spiritualism -
All my life, I have avoided comparing "spiritual" with "religious" as you have done without hesitation here. I feel that judging those who follow any doctrine makes me as bad as so many of them that have judged me for not going into a house of worship very often in my life (altho you probably know I live in the wilderness, a cathedral all its own!) All that gibberish being said, I love your poem & wholeheartedly agree there's a distinct advantage to being spiritual! *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie
' .. pure fabrication - to tease those under the spell - who are gullible to believe?'
Your words raise more than a chain of Thought, andrew. Belief, faith, whatever, has been questioned forever in history. We all have the right to free thought in everything that surrounds the living, surely. But, also need to look at people and what/ how they think. Is there a single religion that shares absolute kindness and true goodness? Is there a hope in hell where NOT having faith will create a less hypocritical, self indulgent creed to hold as the perfect common denominator for goodness?
Been thinking.discussing this for years. Reared by agnostic father, diluted RC mother, Buddhist inspired, etc. etc. I long to know my true faith in ? ? By discussing and listening to other people's opinions, perhaps will eventually know where I stand - or pray.
MAN thanks, your finely considered words have opened the kindest and most thoughtful can of worms.. surely.! Forgive my blather.. (Have had to do some editing of awful typing)
dear Andrew... I love being a free spirit and
thereby being Spiritual. I feel that our Spirit lives on,
so I believe in feelings. The morning sun may appear
to make my day pleasant. However, if the day is
dreary, it's just the shadow of an Angel's wing watching
over me. We need more Rainbows... The northern lights
Aurora Borealis are seen by some. We can enjoy the colors
of life when birds appear all over the world. We can each be
our own Chapel to worship as we choose. God wrote signs in the Sky
with only the Price of our loving hearts to love and be loved. truly,
a lovely verse of poetry. As ever, Pat
There are certain circus aspects to the church. Hand over your money and get a show that will please you. I think it's about dependence. And if you can get people to depend on you, they'll always come back.
Not all you say is not true sir Andrew Mitchell. Religion is another form of government and big business with great corruption aspect. . It can be bad when it becomes a tool or venue to use and abuse people but it can be good in some ways if focused on the spiritual aspects. American Evangelists will tell the people what they like to hear and rack up the millions in their bank accounts. Joel Osteen, Benny Hinn and countless others who are preying on the gullible and the hopeless.
They have figured out the game to milk people within the law and false preaching.

How true King Sami how true! Thank you for your visit Sami.
Love this write, so much truth in it, and that is why if I am asked my response would be "I am a free spirit". Tied to no religion. All the religions seem to have acquired an incredible amount of wealth. Maybe they should use some of it helping the disadvantaged eh? Nicely conveyed Andrew.
