Insectuos melodies

Insectuos melodies

A Story by andrew mitchell

Over the hills down meadows lane
in a quaint insectarian village
upon leaf litter road
inside the Inn Wings and Legs,
the quintet band Six Legs plays.
The crickets on bass stroke their strings with bows
while the annoying harmonies in tune
are performed by the back up singers The Mosquito Purrs.
While the announcer, the house fly speaks in a raspy voice,
he is rather nervous and fidgety.
However the show must go on and it does.
When the much awaited duo Ladybird and Lacewing
perform their hit “ I’ll drop my wings for you.”
The ants with their infectious applause
nearly brought the house down.
The Beetles did their usual number “ I am the dung.”
with the orchestral band Naked Antennae
before hastily packing up as the Rolling Stones
we’re gathering outside.
All went well until the giants arrived
dispersing the crowd in capsicum spray
and mortein insecticide.
Thanks go out to the Country Ants Rescue and Salvage
for clearing up the dead carcasses.
Next week only Three Legs Left play more Insectuos melodies.

I wonder what you are using to kill those insects and enjoy the music at the same time; insecticides, herbicides and fungicides.
Do you sell anything for snarticide?

Wonderfully and very cleverly written, Andrew. Rather think we have similar over here, hidden behind the six a penny over-blown places with over-blown prices! Your use of words and sounds, phrases and inside-in beasties is very funny! Love the

A pleasure, meant it.
1950's Doo-Wop....insect style.
Buddy Holly Lead singer...and those country ants remind us of that Rockabilly....the day the music died...
but luckily for many of us...there was salvage...and the music was reborn.
a very amusing and cleverly constructed piece of writing...love the creativity here, andrew.
