Into the depths of reincarnation.

Into the depths of reincarnation.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Oh! Yes! Reincarnation!
Been there done that!
You know I was really
getting use to the idea
of being dead -
the solitude
the quietness of it all
and then all of a sudden
Bang! I was born again.
Yep! To endure another lifetime.
I enjoyed the peace of mind
death brings like a long sleep.
Yep! I was just getting
so comfortable with the idea
of death when... Bang!
I came out crying again
into the same old world
to live another lifetime,
more lessons to be learned
before my death finally.
So what do I think of reincarnation?
Well, it was alright at first,
but then became a tedious bore.
Last time I was a tortoise,
lived over a hundred years -
it was too long! I tell you.
Do you know how many
talking tortoises are out there?
Just one! Me!
I talked myself to death
I did for one hundred and twenty years.
This time, if I'm lucky
I might come back as a butterfly
they only live for two weeks,
and I do like lettuce and nectar.
Then its off again for
another eternal sleep.
How nice until I come back.
Then I have to go through
the whole routine-
who am I
what am I doing here
where did I come from,
and all that kind of thing.
Really, you would think
I would know by now.
Maybe, I'll come back
with room and a view -
a giraffe would do.
But who knows
what I'll be...
a dog, a monkey, or
a girl something different.
Anyway, back again
just had a quick death.
Oh that's just great!
I'm a cat again, nine lives,
but no I got run over last time,
so it must be six or seven lives now.
Another lifetime of
tin cat food and fur balls
'till death do we part.

The trick is to come back as some rich woman's cat. Not a bad gig, hairballs and all.
