An island in the sky perhaps.

An island in the sky perhaps.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Once upon a star
I shined,
I took her out
a few times
until the final curtain.
Once upon a dream
Sorry I can't say that
I'm awake!
Once upon a time,
Oops! Can't say that either.
I don't have the time.
Besides its already been said.
But I can say -
a dreamer meets dream girl
in the hope
of a better home and gardens.
A straight mind
in a creased jacket
becomes
a crooked mind
in a strait jacket.
She waits in bed
with baited breath,
he comes home late
from fishing empty.
All it takes
is thirty years
to pay off a mortgage,
rob a bank and
you get ten years.
All the time
I thought the chicken
crossed the road but
the road crossed the forest.
Where does one buy
an island in the sky?
