The outstretched word of verse.

The outstretched word of verse.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

While the yawn
was no more
a poetic pause
that outstretched
the sneeze,
it was the cough
that covered the word
while the nose
flooded the page -
verses were still
extracted from
the lion’s mouth.

It was the word cough that did it Andrew. I was grateful I was wearing a mask :) Nothing wrong with my hearing though, and I heard the spoken word. This piece of brevity is a mystery to me, but my answer was spontaneous. All good wishes. Keep safe.
