The players are ready!

The players are ready!

A Poem by andrew mitchell

On the board of mortality
it's your move.
In the play of life's playground
where checker-board thoughts
play out across a mastermind design;
moments are formed,
memories are lost,
unprepared we lose
in the final takings
when its time -
game, set and match.

Since it's hard not to be covid-obsessed when everyone is writing about the effects of this pandemic, I succumb to interpreting your poem in these terms. Here in the USA, everyone points fingers at who is making this worse -- who is doing what they "should" be doing -- versus who's doing what they damn well please (an American tendency that I possess, for sure). Your first two lines especially sum it all up. We all choose our preferred comfort level of WHATEVER in life despite how others howl & judge (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
