that's how ponzi schemes are run - the greater fool theory. salvation and hope for sale. a lot of peope actually believe that they are bound for heaven because they attend or drop something in the collection plate. that pope-mobile with the protective glass isn't cheap. lots of money involved - just ask jim and tammy faye baker. when they would come around at collection time my father would say, "the priests are eating steak and lobster and i'm having hot dogs and beans". you highlight one of several issues that the church has. i've always wondered what gets said behind closed doors in the church or at the vatican. didn't someone once say that they would never go to a church where the minister was dressed better than he was or drove a better car than he did? politics make strange bed fellows (pun intended)... :)

Of course there is the innocent persecution of women as witches, the slaughter of black cats, the paedophile priests, yes such a sacred society Sami. The cruelest of the cruel all in the name of God.

I totally agree. Also many and many false doctrines and pagan practices were adopted and integrated into religion. Religious wars as we see it till this day sanctioned by God is abhorent. Like a said a long but worthy subject.
