Within the sounds of silence are branches.

Within the sounds of silence are branches.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

One does not hear
the sounds of wisdom
for that is peace of mind,
but one hears the sounds
of failure in the quest
for knowledge.
Bloody Hell! Not again!

That’s what that constant ringing in my ears is and it keeps getting louder. Nice write!

somebody turn up the volume...
I need to learn from my failures.

These days, with all the clamor & whining & grievance fueled constantly by our leader, the baby in diapers, I would indeed say that wisdom sounds quite a bit different than that. I'm a little stuck (reading your poem) on trying to imagine what "the sounds of failure in the quest for knowledge" might be? I think most people do not consider our everyday mistakes & bad choices as being "a quest for knowledge" . . . but maybe some? Happy new year! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Reminds me of the song by Devo
Silent vows on branches become the
songs of evening vespers where we gather
to give our talents to the Lord and his family.
With gracious graditude and Blessings. Amen, Oat
