The value in a line.

The value in a line.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

The value of the poem
plunged today to its
lowest level in six years.
One writer invested
in a verse,
a stanza on love
plummeted and
a few well wishers
prayed in hope.
Literary experts said nothing.
There were rumours
that love flowed
on the imagery
of a sentence
but that was
shot down in flames.
Some nouns adjectively
crashed into a full stop
however there were still cheers
Cupid was playfully
loading his arrow-
love was in the air
and there was
a verb riding off
on a broom.

Forgive me if I am wrong but this almost felt like a theme song, all it was missing was a piano for an introduction. Please keep in mind I enjoyed it very much but it sort of reminded me of something from the early 80's. But i still must say I enjoyed this work very much.

You have penned a clever metaphor on how easy it is for a writer's work can be devalued and misinterpreted because the rhyme, meter didn't quite hit the readers brief. This is a great piece you have written and is a great anecdote that all writers here at the cafe should read...not to feel perturbed by others lack of understanding of their work.

Really enjoyed this piece...

Thank you for sharing..
