On the back of history.

On the back of history.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

In hindsight
turning the clock back
on the Titanic’s misfortune sinking
brought about the new
vessel the Giganteum.
In the inauguration of its
release from its moorings,
the ship rapidly slid
down the docks
but stopped.
Spectators and news crew
looked on with disbelief,
apparently the ship had
reached New York from London.
It was Giganteum.

I love the word "Giganteum" . . . looked it up to see if there's some ship history I might be missing . . . it's a flower. Everywhere I look it up, this is a flower. I wonder if there's anything symbolic about that? I am clearly missing whatever is sailing around in that ironic head of yours (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I did start to laugh, but then remembered that the ship, in the slip before launching, was 3,399 miles long. That's just a bit greater than the distance between London and Moscow. 🤣
