A Poem by andrew mitchell

He who holds
the heart held high
has conquered the love.
But he who swims
amongst hearts already taken
will surely drown
from their misgivings.
Seek not married hearts
for Cupid carries
a pick and shovel
or feel the spear
from Cupid’s shadow,
and think twice,
beware of
the Devil’s thrusts
built on lust.
I am the land of plenty
and I do not share
or I’ll be empty.
