What if the poem
you are reading
is really reading you.
The caricature of a poem
is as follows:
Having large ears
one hears what
one has to say
especially when
thinking out loud
in reviews.
Watching the reader
with chameleon eyes
it follows the reader
on every line
never missing a move,
looking for any positive
or negative reaction,
any irregularities :
skipping lines, in a hurry,
the frowns, the smiles
taking in the imagery
of the reader.
Finally, the caricature
of the poem has voice
to graciously accept
your judgement, your critique
or show you the door,
the end of the line
with its tongue
sticking out.
So, big eared freaky looking poem, you know all my tells? Know when to raise, check or fold? Maybe. Maybe it's just the conceit of a poet. Could it be that old carnie con of automatic writing where the moving hand and the beating heart operate sans mens, et corpore en toto? Homegrown Latin resorted to in times of confusion.
Nice conceit if conceit it is.
i like to read poetry in the nude. would the caricature be arrested for being a peeper? the twists and turns of your mind never cease to amaze me. what an interesting world it would be if people knew what we were really thinking. reminds me of an episode of star trek ... :)

Yes I have to really wrack my brains sometimes to come up with something out of the norm. After following Monty Python and Dave Allen, Faulty Towers, and Billy Connelly, they have all influenced by writing and to go that twilight zone. Yes can you imagine if people were thinking out loud, would be very interesting in the singles mating games, girls would be knocking back guys in a thought which would save time.
Ha ha, what a thought Andrew. A poem which is capable of reading the reader. Maybe seeing the reader too. And as for sticking it's tongue out at the critique, maybe it would make the responder be kinder :) All good wishes.
