Addressing the oddness of our ordinary existence.

Addressing the oddness of our ordinary existence.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

In the morning
we get dressed,
and to go to work
we buy a car.
We buy a house
only to work for
the rest of our lives
leaving this house
mostly vacant and
not lived in.
So we go to work
to pay off the clothes,
to pay off the car,
and to pay off this house
that remains vacant all day
so we can afford
to live in it then
we retire,
loans paid off
we die
and the house
is vacant as before.
Makes sense to me
and that’s life
as we know it.
