A Poem by andrew mitchell

What is a lover’s verse
but historical fiction,
an erotic essay
stripped bare,
to a stanza entangled
in a rose coloured field
of distorted lenses
leaving a word
lying naked
that went out
on a limb
only to feel
her legs give way
and crumble.
