The leaf that looked back.

The leaf that looked back.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

I'm turning over
a new leaf,
but my shadow
remains defiant,
and so I drift
in autumn's fall
looking back
at evergreens
I never was.

We do have a habit of looking back even if we want to move forward. We are all leaves on a deciduous tree waiting to fall. Excellent piece of brevity Andrew summing up life's journey and good intentions.
