Eat your heart out.

Eat your heart out.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

While some past lovers
of yours were
generous in their
portrayal of you -
that you had
a good heart,
I found this
to the contrary,
for your love
was rather lean
and mean
to the point where
on collecting
your last drops
of tainted love,
they contained
venom.
How the anti venom
helped me
just in time
where others
succumbed
to your charm
becoming match stick men
charred and spent trophies.

To strike a match
and light your candle
was to see your
shadow at play
strangle Cupid.
