Some things are insurmountable on a road that’s not a road.

Some things are insurmountable on a road that’s not a road.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

The drive in us all
comes with gears
and sometimes steered.
But there is a not
in us all, as
there are can’t,
cannot, will not, stop.
Throw in a yes, a go,
a no, and not sure,
and you have a perpetual
state of procrastination,
a few bursts of positivity
weighed down by
negative deposits
along a road of uncertainty.
It’s no wonder
we are given
eight hours sleep
to ponder on
our next move,
or better still
hitch a ride
along a road
that’s not a road
at all.

Why is "insurmountable" used vastly more than "surmountable?"

I have no idea but it does.
Who is "given" eight hours sleep? That's a pretty big assumption among a crowd of insomniac writers. Haven't you read the millions of insomnia poems at the cafe? *wink! wink!* Judging from your title, which goes on & on, I kinda expected this one to be a bit revved up (((HUGS)))

Haha that’s the beauty of running out of poetic fuel.
