To be measured

To be measured

A Poem by andrew mitchell

When he said
he was the
ruler of all
things mathematical
turned out he was
all twelve inches of him.
But to his horror
along his length
came metric
giving him a run
for the distance,
all thirty centimetres.
However, pencil
in awe of his rule
and close friend
said he would outline
his achievements
and together
they called the mark
a line.

good stuff as always andrew. i remember in school as a kid they started making us learn the metric system but it never really caught on here in the u.s. one must be careful whenever drawing lines in the sand - measuring up creates pressure. i guess i'm open to anything that would make me "longer" - then i could be a legend in my own mind ... :)

And they say that size doesn't matter. A very measured piece Andrew.
