The linesman

The linesman

A Poem by andrew mitchell

During the course
of our existence
on this marvellous terrain
our imagination travels
beyond the realms
of the universe.
Scientists say we are
comprised of atoms
and maybe we are.

However, we are all just dots.
Enter the linesman,
the matchmaker.
It is the linesman
who chooses your destiny
connecting you
to other dots.

Beware the linesman
for he rules your fate.
It is he who
gives you the lines
which you must travel.

It is he that draws
the line in the sand
not to be crossed
or be disconnected.

Behold the line
that draws you in.

The linesman.
