Through the barricade of the ages

Through the barricade of the ages

A Poem by andrew mitchell

The youth of spring
was well behind her
as was her adult years
of summer she endured.
Now in her autumn
years of life
the cold grey stone awaits
presenting the afterlife of
winter’s hibernation.

Of course, some say the grave is not the end. Who really knows what lies across the veil? Nicely done, Sir.

Thank you MJ
It is slightly reassuring this relates to "she" rather than he, as I find it striking a bit too close to home
