Into the horizon of nothing

Into the horizon of nothing

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Excuse me! Are you dead?
Yes I am.
What’s it like being dead?
Well, being dead is a state of nothingness really, no more.
I see and what are you looking for?
Well! We were all taught we have souls
so I’m looking for mine but
as you can see I don’t own one.
Have you had any contact by you know who?
You mean the man upstairs. God!
Yes!
God no! Not even a hint.
It was all a belief that we lived by.
And the Bible?
Oh that! It’s just another book
of human literature, nothing more, nothing less.
A bit like me now really.
And what are you doing here?
Oh yes! How rude of me. I’m new here, I’m dead too!
Well welcome to the big vastness of emptiness.
The space is just awesome.
Yes it is.
