A marriage of convenience

A marriage of convenience

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Dearly beloved,
we are gathered
here tonight
to join this verse
with this stanza
in poetic matrimony.
Do you verse
except this stanza
to be your lawful
wedded copyright.
Yes I do!
Do you stanza
except this verse
to be in your lines
forever and ever?
Certainly not!
It’s a crappy verse
I deserve better.

We are gathered
here today
in the separation
of a verse
not in line
with a stanza.
You may erase
the words!
How do you feel verse?
I’m free! Free!
What about you stanza?
Oh! I’ll come up
with something,
you know, an edit today
keeps the words at bay!
Anyway, good riddance.
Of all lines and I get
a lousy one.
The End.
