If I had a
mind like
a dictionary
think of the power
of words I would
lay onto thee
at my disposal.
A poem of finesse,
in strength and
structure,
a fluent writer of poetry
but I was born
a note book, blank.
A scribble here,
a scribble there,
a scribble everywhere,
a poetic wanderer
graffitiing the
walls of every mind
not knowing
my every turn.
Go forth mind
come back with thoughts
to restore my vision
and say hi
to Spike Milligan.
Who is this Spike Milligan? An easy flowing write, Andrew. Sparse but each word placed with care and craft. Sits fantastically on the page.

I think that is what makes us unique. If we were all born with a mind like a dictionary then we would choose the most confusing words possible to put into our poetry. Being a blank slate, we just write with the words that make sense to us and take the help from dictionaries if we need it. At least that's how I interpreted this poem. I actually really liked it because sometimes I am at a loss for creativity and wish a creative lightning bolt would hit me with a great idea, kind of like a dictionary for a mind :)
I think if I had the mind of a dictionary it would throw me into a state of confusion. I would be spoilt for choice. You mention Spike Milligan and I smiled. What a both tragic and brilliantly funny man he was. Multi talented. Your musings here caught my attention too Andrew.

Made everyone roar with laughter while he suffered from the black dog and took his own life. So very sad. The goons were hilarious. That's going back a long time now :)

I love it. You are being so humble Emperor Andrew. You started that way but you are a pro now. I think you mentioning Spike Milligan could be your hero or an admirer of his talents.
You are very visionary sir.

Hehehe! Your natural selection is evolving. Just kidding.
You are welcome Emperor.
