Quick! Before the poetic police get hereA Poem by andrew mitchell
I’m not frightened
about writing a bad poem. Why should I be I’ve got plenty of them. It’s not as if I’m going to hang from a verse until the heart of the stanza bleeds dry. No! No! No! Not me! I’m going to swing on the tentacles of a thought that has wrapped around me and grind graphite to paper. There the thoughts will flow, all the meanings out there will come together in the grand finale - it’s death and the final resting place. So catch me a star and I’ll light it for you, see the comet tail whereby in a years time all coming together, we can call it The Bad Poems Anniversary. Listen to the crowd. Give us a really bad poem. Oh! Listen to the rhythmic flow as they chant in metered tongues. Bad poem! Bad poem! Bad poem! In the meantime, I think I’ve swallowed a syllable. © 2022 andrew mitchellReviews
