The stake I was in

The stake I was in

A Poem by andrew mitchell

It was an honour
to have made
your acquaintance,
but I was condemned
by your smile.

Of God’s and Goddesses born,
it was heresy
seeing you naked:
how my heart burned
at the stake
I was in.

Was love the smoke
that reached for the eyes?
I wondered the stairways
in search for heaven.

Deliberate misuse of wondered instead of wandered and stake instead of state.

To be condemned by a smile, that is such beautiful contrariness. What a steak that turned out to be! This lifts and carries away. A true pleasure to read and delight in Andrew. Thanks for sharing.
