Not another confession

Not another confession

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Yes my son
what is your confession?
Forgive me Father
for I have sinned.
Pray tell!
I have been having
lecherous, insatiable
wicked, carnal thoughts
about a woman living
in my street.
And who is this woman?
She is my wife.
Well, you say five
Hail Mary’s and I
will have five bloody Mary’s.
Come back next week
and tell me all
the erotic details.
Thank you Father.

Well that's what I thought went on in the confessional! I don't trust anyone who puts him/herself between me and an invisible force that only they can interpret.

Thank you Michael. I like Dave Allen at large which had many confession box sketches.

A very smart and insightful man the inimitable Mr Allen.
At the convent school we always wondered what happened on the other side of the confessional booth. A very pointed poem here Andrew!
